A year ago today, I saw The Yardbirds perform for the 1st time ever! I truly hope it isn't the last because I was really impressed & felt quite lucky to be there. The performance was tight and all the guys were down-to-earth sweethearts when I met them. Hope to see you all again in Toronto if you can make it for this tour. Take good care and keep on Yardmerizing. Cheers, XOXOX.

Saw the Yardbirds live back in the summer of '68 [pretty sure it was 68] at a ski lodge in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada...called Hidden Valley. Also fairly sure that both Beck and Page were there. Certainly Jim and Chris were. I've been a fan since '65. Owned all of the early days official releases both on record and subsequently on CD. A foundational band the Yardbirds. VERY important.
Just recently came across 'Live In London' and 'Family Tree'. Glad to have them both. Keep a 'rockin' boys. Thanks for all the years of important contributions.
A job well done.

The new Yardbird's disc ROCKS!!! Too bad it's not more widely available. Even though I was a little too young to appreciate them at first(I was born in 1958), they are now one of my top five favorite British Invasion bands. Best wishes to all the guys!!!!!

As a young musician I was fortunate to see the Yardbirds in '66 at the Virginia Beach Dome in Virginia Beach, VA. I was spellbound! A group far ahead of it's time, I was profoundly affected. I still play & record & just wanted to drop a line hoping Chris or Jim would know what an impact their music had on my life! Thanks guys - bill gaunce

Saw the band in Petaluma. My husband's band, THE RAVEUPS ( Yardbirds tribute band) were there to meet and schmooze, and I was not going to miss THAT! But to further blow our minds, they needed a harp player that night to fill in for their ailing bandmember, and our Dave was asked to fill in! What a thrill for us all! And the band was amazing in every way...played brilliantly! I cannot wait to see them again. Thanks GUYS!!!

The Yardbirds have been my ultimate favorite band since I first found out about them through a friend in 1986. The music inspired me so much I started playing guitar. Then like Jimmy Page, switched to bass guitar briefly, and with my friend formed my first band: Shapes Of Things. We played classic rock, and blues. Then around 1990 formed a better band called: The Dawn Of Time. We played the same kind of music, and added garage, and psychedelia to the mix. We played a lot of the Yardbirds' material, with me handling the Jeff Beck leads. By 1993 became quite proficient with the bowed guitar style. By the mid to late 1990's the band fragmented, and I joined a band called Alpha Project, then Wall Street. This outfit was geared more toward the 1970's, & '80's, however, still played a few classic '60's rock songs. At one of the outdoor festival gigs in 2000, during the solo to The Doors' Roadhouse Blues I played the solo behind my head for the 1st time! It was fun! The band played several more gigs in 2001, but fragmented by early 2002. I joined another band that was short lived, and called Sound Barrier, but it too broke up. So by fall 2002 joined my current band called: Villains. Check it out at: villainsrock.com We play some classic rock, and blues, but is geared more toward today's music. I've been playing lead guitar for about 21 years now, and am not afraid to say, I can play Yardbirds' songs over and over without ever growing tired, only more inspired by what was in the past, their recent gigs, and intrigue of what the Yardbirds will do in the future. I would sure like to see this band play some gigs around here...in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, such as Summerfest, The State Fair, Washington, and/or Waukesha County Fairs. Hope to see ya there! Take care! Rock on! Bryan aka Jiffybeckage.

I saw your show in Springfield, Ma. before you headed to Florida. I came weary about if your sound was outdated and lacking a serious lead guitarist but I was blown away. Ben is an awesome lead guitarist in the Yardbird mold. Only 22 years old and what a future is in store for this kid!!! I hope he stays contented with playing out and recording with the Yardbirds. I can't wait especially if you release a live CD from this tour. Maybe something can be done with the concert that XM Radio broadcasted. Well I hope to see you again in the future. Stay together and record new material.
Thanks

I used to own a Yardbirds T-shirt that Jeff Beck gave me back in 1966------I have it here in the house somewhere--------it was a white shirt with red lettering-------The Yardbirds on the front with the traditional Yardbird font------I remember that he was using it to wipe down his Les Paul-------he tossed it to me with a "here ya go"------I replied thanks-----he gave me a pixie smile and we parted ways--------if I find it------the next time I see him, I am going to have him sign it-------S

After seeing the concerts at Mohegan Sun, at Springfield Massachusetts, and at Lake Tahoe in the past two weeks, we believe this is the best Yardbirds group -- ever. Not to take away anything from Keith and the three classic guitarists, but these Yardbirds are superior to all that has gone before. The new material is very good, Ben King's guitar playing is a revelation, and Billy-Boy's harmonica interplay takes the band to a level it never had before. The crowd of 900+ dancing, raving fans at Lake Tahoe said it all -- the crowd was captivated from the opening bars of Train Kept A-rolling to the end of encore Smokestack Lightning. A concert for the ages -- and the band knew it, too (seeing the happy smile on Jim McCarty's face as he left the stage made us feel good for them, too). Please stay together so we can see many more concerts with this same lineup.

The Yardbirds show in Stuart, FL on July 21st was awesome! While I've been a fan since the early 60's I never got to see this band perform until this past Saturday!! WOW! I brought 2 friends who were too young to know the Yardbirds. They were blown away by the show. The new members of the band blend very well with the original members. I JUST HOPE that there are plans for a new CD from this new incaration of the YARDBIRDS!! THANKS for a wonderful night of rockin music!!!

How great it is to go down memory lane with the band. They were my favorites in high school 65-68. Great years. I was band crazy but lived in a very little town on the outskirts of Los Angeles also separated by a mountain range. Kept us innocent! Yes, I know it was the 60's. I swerved away from Hard Rock which they now call Heavy Metal after I got married and had 2 children. When they got in their middle school years, they began to take me back to the love of my life. Hard Rock and Rock in general. MTV was the greatest thing ever invented.
You were the only band I got to see in Concert. It was in Catalina, CA What was totally awesome is that I think I got to see you guys at least 5 times in the week we got to spend in Catalina. I was there with the "girls" sorority type of club that high school had back then. Yes, 25 of the hottest girls in our high school and you didn't meet even one of them. I hooked up with Dave Boldt who was in your opening band. We hung around the remainder of the week! I think that he liked hanging around with all the girls! I had already been a band groupie (not same meaning as now, for me anyway)since middle school. I loved garage bands. Too much said, must stop.
Nice chatting at you. ROCK ON!!

Hi; I think that the Yardbirds were my first official Hard Rock band. I saw them at the Casino on Catalina Island, California in the summer of 1966. I was in high school. I was 15 years old. I was with all my girlfriends in a sorority type club I was in. It was called the Travaillers.
I went to see you almost every night for the week I was there. The charge to get in was only $5.00. On one night one of, Jim McCarty's drumsticks broke and I caught the tip. It is in my scrapbook! I also hooked up with the warm up band's drummer, David Boldt. We hung around together for the rest of my vacation. I guess I am one of the first rock bands groupies! I still love Rock to this day, it is my very favorite type of music. My current love is Def Leppard.
Well, bye now and ROCK ON!

I've been a Yardbirds fan for years.
One of the first songs that I learned to play on harmonica is "I'm a Man" (the 1965 hit version). That was @34 years ago.
In one band that I played bass for, the lead guitarist doubled on bass while I tackled harmonica.
But first, I had to learn all the notes, which we picked off of an abused vinyl LP. As a very inexperienced harmonicist, I depended on both the help and patience of the rhythm guitarist who helped by picking the notes and calling them out to me. When we were done, I had that harmonica solo down, including the rave-up part, note-by-note!
I like to think that Keith Relf would've been both impressed and flattered.
Although I have been in numerous bands since then, the episode that I just shared is still memorable.
I have just about every recording by the Yardbirds, including a cassete tape of the Box of Frogs.
I guess that it's about time for me to upgrade my collection!

No John, that's untrue. Peter Grant and Jimmy Page do not own the Yardbirds music nor do they own the name. Never have, never will. That's just a myth. No basis in fact.
(Giorgio Gomelsky, their first manager, does own some of their early songs. By the way, you should really join us on the Yardbirds Fan Forum for these type of questions and comments. It's a lot of fun. See the 'links' page)
